mParticle Releases New Features to Boost Data Control & Transparency

The new features launching today, Attribute Value Filters and Data Transfer Alerts, were designed to increase even further the levels of control and transparency mParticle users have over their data.

Attribute Value Filters

Among the most popular features of the mParticle platform are the data filters that allow users to toggle exactly what data from their app gets sent to which integration partner. With the introduction of Attribute Value Filters, mParticle platform you’ll now have even more control than ever, as well as much greater ease of use when it comes to data mapping.

For example, if you have an e-commerce app and only want to send data from people who purchased a certain type of product to Mixpanel, while sending data from people who purchased a different type of product to Amplitude, you can now easily do so. Here’s how it works:

1. In the data filters screen, click the arrow just below the App Service name and choose “Open Attribute Forwarding”.

2. Then, when prompted with the following screen, select the Attribute and enter the Value you would like to forward to that particular Service, in this case to Google Analytics.

3. In this example, you can choose only to forward data that relates to people booking an airline ticket on Delta Airlines.

And that’s it! The data associated with Attribute Value = Delta will be forwarded where it needs to go.

Data Transfer Alerts

mParticle takes the effort out of setting up data integrations, and now with Data Transfer Alerts it greatly simplifies ongoing QA.

Without a platform such as mParticle’s, you could spend hours troubleshooting why data from one system wasn’t showing up in another vendor’s dashboard. Or worse, you might be subject to the continuous anxiety of “plug and pray” – that worrying feeling that the data you integrated last month might not be making it to its intended destination.

Now, with Data Transfer Alerts, you get complete transparency along with an exact, hourly breakdown of what’s going on. This alleviates the uncertainty of what happens to data when it’s sent to each partner.

We now classify the warnings into three categories…

  • Fatal: These are critical errors and will result in reporting variances or data.
  • Warning: These are warnings usually due to latency or threshold constraints on the Service’s side where the data doesn’t arrive but will automatically be re-sent until it does arrive.
  • Informational: These are not errors but rather highlight when data is missing without interfering with data transfer.

We will also show a breakdown in the HTTP status codes.

Our goal here is simple: completely remove the black box around what’s happening with your data. The end result is that you can sleep easier at night and, should something go wrong, know that we’ve got your back when it comes to identifying the source of the problem across your various Service partners.

New Integrations

We’re also excited to announce five new integrations…

Intercom: Intercom is a Customer Communications platform, making it easy for companies to see and talk to customers, with products for live chat, marketing, feedback, and support.

Webtrends: Webtrends is a web and app-based analytics platform to help companies find new ways to reach their customers.

Plus, three additional Amazon integrations making it easier than ever to get data into your own Analytics pipeline.

Amazon SNS: Amazon Simple Notification Service allows you to deliver messages instantly to applications or users and eliminate polling in your apps.

Amazon SQS: Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS) is a fast, reliable, scalable, fully managed message queuing service

Amazon Kinesis: Amazon Kinesis services make it easy to work with real-time streaming data in the AWS cloud.

As always, we’re committed not only to helping app marketers and developers solve the data challenges of today but also the challenges of tomorrow. To that end, we’re constantly evolving along with the rapidly-changing ecosystem. Our new features and integrations are evidence of this commitment. Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback, we would love to hear from you!
