We’re excited to share that Fretello, the AI-based guitar learning app that empowers people to express themselves through music, has selected mParticle as their Customer Data Platform.

Launched in 2016, Fretello has since expanded to a team of 25+ passionate Fretellians, supporting a rapidly expanding user base of budding guitar players across the world.

In the last year, Fretello experienced massive user growth. Without an advanced data analytics stack in place, however, the team was struggling to understand user engagement and accelerate their momentum. Specifically, it was difficult for them to identify where relevant customer data lived, combine data from different sources, and build a single source of truth.

Wolfgang Damm, Fretello CTO and co-founder, reached out to mParticle, recognizing that it could help the team simplify their customer data infrastructure and gain a better understanding of customer engagement. The team at Fretello completed a full evaluation of the CDP market and decided on mParticle due to documentation quality and integration ecosystem. They additionally appreciated that all of Fretello’s current services are supported out of the box and will require minimal setup effort. mParticle also came highly recommended for its stability, eliminating Wolfgang’s main concern of a single point of failure.

Wolfgang and team are looking forward to leveraging mParticle to make it easy for stakeholders across departments to use data to answer questions about user behaviour, while also ensuring that everyone is working with a high quality data set. This will allow team members to spend less time wrangling data and more time focusing on making it easier for their users to learn guitar with Fretello.

When asked about advice he would provide to other companies evaluating Customer Data Platforms, Wolfgang emphasized the prioritization of data quality. “Know the quality of your data! Garbage in, garbage out - is such an essential statement when it comes to data” Wolfgang described. “Once defined and implemented, mParticle's Data Plan makes sure we can keep trusting our data while focusing on creating the best learning experience for our users.”
